YUMENIKKI -DREAM DIARY- Early Character Design

In March 2017 I started working as art director of YUMENIKKI -DREAM DIARY-, developed by Active Gaming Media and published by Kadokawa.

These are some early concepts from when the game mechanics and style wasn't yet stablished.

Early Madotsuki Concept Art.

Here I was trying different outfits and faces starting from the original design by Kikiyama. Also I tried to reimagine some of the Effects she uses in the game.

Early Monoe Concept Art.

I tried to imagine her as a realistic Japanese schoolgirl based on the portrait that appears in the original game when you interact with her, trying to emulate her well known smile.

Early Poniko Concept Art.

Since she is blonde I've always seen her as a non Japanese girl. For this one I tried to get inspiration from North European features.

Early Monoko Concept Art.

This one is very faithful to the original design. I just tried to give her a more realistic look.
